Vol.4, no.4 Planning and Architecture in Greece in the Neoliberal Era

Keywords: Athens, urban design, economics, recession, education, redevelopment

Abstract: This paper discusses the role of government in urban development projects in Greece in the second half of the 20th century. It identifies the retreat from direct involvement during the Neo-liberal area and argues that the consequences of this are evident in the types of projects that have either flourished or failed in the post financial crisis period since 2008.
