Housing – Critical Futures is an international program run in collaboration with universities internationally. A partner of the UN Habitat University Initiative it welcomes collaborations worldwide. Aligned with this perspective is a series of UK hosted activities.

The UK hosted sub-programme runs 2016-2018. It includes: 1. conferences in cities across the UK  |  2.  book and journal publications  | 3. related one-off events such as film screenings.

Special Screening: Cathy Come Home. 2016

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ken Loach’s film Cathy Come Home, and the establishment of the homeless charity Crisis as a result, a special screening with a presentation made by the director Ken Loach is in preparation. Place: FACT (TBC), Liverpool. Partners: Public Health Film Society.

Film Competition: Film and the International Home 2017-18

An awards ceremony presented by Ken Loach, featuring screenings of the winners of the short film competition Film and the International Home. Presented at FACT (Foundation for Art & Creative Technology) on the occasion of Liverpool Biennial 2018. Project in planning. Event details TBC.

Workshops by Avi Friedman. 2017-18

A series of workshops and talks by UN Habitat Award Winner for affordable homes, Professor Avi Friedman. Avi Friedman is also the Founder and Director of the McGill University Affordable Homes Programme, Montreal, Canada. Details TBC.
